It was reported in the Mail Online this week that former car park tycoon Sir Donald Gosling will be lending The Queen his £50 million super-yacht Leander to mark her Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
You may remember that The Queen’s Royal Yacht, Britannia, was taken away in 1997 and since then, The Queen hasn’t had use of a ‘luxury yacht’.
And when I say luxury, I mean luxury! The 246ft yacht is normally available for the nominal sum of £440,000 a WEEK and is among the world’s largest and most luxurious yachts available for provide charter. It boasts:
2 x Master Bedrooms
8 x En Suite Guest Cabins
1 x Sauna
1 x Swimming Pool
1 x Jacuzzi
1 x Grand Piano
1 x Helipad
And if that wasn’t enough, it also has an on board cellar and kitchen.
The Queen is reported to be ‘delighted’ that she will once again have use of a luxury yacht, especially as Sir Donald Gosling was quoted as saying, ‘I wouldn’t expect a fee for something that is on behalf of the nation’.
Lets hope The Queen gets some decent British weather so that she can enjoy her time on board!
