Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity that looks after The Tower of London, announced yesterday that it is to go into partnership with De Beers – the world’s leading diamond company.
De Beer’s generous support will create a sparkling new exhibition at the Jewel House – home to the most powerful symbols of the British Monarchy – The Crown Jewels. This priceless collection will be given a 21st century makeover, with new displays that will showcase the jewels like never before, just in time for the Diamond Jubilee next year.
The Coronation ceremony will be the central theme, and displays will examine how the royal regalia are used during the ceremony and explore the symbolism of each object. The Crown Jewels are still regularly used by the Queen in important national ceremonies, and the collection has always held an unparalleled allure to visitors from across the globe.
You’ll be able to see the new exhibition for yourself at The Tower of London when it opens to the public during Easter 2012. For more information about the Crown Jewels collection, click here.
