The Palace has just announced that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit Australia this Autumn.
Her 10-day trip, the first in almost six years, will include visits to Brisbane and Melbourne. Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will arrive in Canberra on Wednesday 19th October before travelling to Perth on Wednesday 26th October for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Additionally, the Royal couple will undertake two “away days” one to Brisbane on Monday 24th October, and one to Melbourne on Wednesday 26th October, departing on Saturday 29th October. During their trip, the Queen and Prince Philip will mainly visit hospitals and charities.
It will be the Queen’s 16th visit to Australia and her first in Queensland since 2002. The area is still recovering from the devastating floods that hit earlier this year – so hopefully a Royal visit will help lift the moods and boost the spirits of those affected.
We’ll bring you more news about the Queen in the run up to her Diamond Jubilee as soon as it’s announced.
