Time at the bar…or is it?

Good news for those of you who are planning to toast the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee down your local pub or bar. The Home Secretary has recently announced Government plans to relax the closing times of pubs and bars (as well as community and village halls and other licensed venues) in England and Wales until 1am on the nights of Friday June 1 and Saturday June 2 next year.

Theresa May told MPs: “The Government considers that, as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee is an occasion for national celebration, licensing hours should be relaxed in all licensed premises in England and Wales.”

But don’t get too excited yet as nothing is set in stone and a consultation on the proposals will run for the next seven weeks.

We will keep you posted!
